The Villa
The villa is located in down quarterof the village, offer you ten beds to sleep in, settled in three double rooms, one medial rom with a big double bed, two WC`s with bathroom, two balcony, a big tavern in Rodophe style with a kitchen. Infront of the villa there is a big covered barbequ with oven and automated spit for making famous Rodophe Cheverme. Infront of it there is a fruit orchard of apples and pears. Behind the villa there is a big meadow with places for children pool, sunshades, lounges, shower, and glasshouse. There will be build uder covered swimming pool in back yard of the villa. The parcel is fence in for offering you full clamness and independence.
The villa propose to you sattelite TV with over 4000 chanels, DVD, airconditioner, laundry, full equipment kitchen with all you need to have a perfect holiday, local heating through the winter, ski and snowboars, mountain bikes and hot guarage for two cars. Near by there is a SPA center, offer you massages, fitness, diffrent type of baths, tangentors and Rodophe style resturant.
From here begins moust of walk traks for hiking, leads to the local landmarks. The views to the raising Karlak and envirions hills are dazzled. Gela is situated 7 km. of Shiroka Laka reserve-countryside, 18 km. of Pamporovo winter resort, of 30 km. of Smolyan town, and 95 km. of Plovdiv town.
Also the village is countryside is a very convenient place to launch tourist routes to "Ledenika" cave and "Lednitsata" chalet, "Diavolskoto Garlo" and "Yagodinskate Peshtera" tourist sights as well as to the picturesque countryside of Solishta, Stoikite and Stikal, and Perelik peak.
To arive here, you can travel with your oun car, or local buses, or we can arrange transport for your needs. The nearlest airport is situated of 95 km. in Plovdiv town.
A Yearly Pipe Feast
Ilinden is a traditional local feast that takes place near the Village of Gela, during the first week of August. People from around the region and the country come for this extended family gathering to dance and listen to music in a large meadow. You can enjoy famous lamb Barbecue in the Rhodopean style, called “Cheverme”. With its playing annual bagpipe competition the feast attracts a lot of tourists.
A bag-pipe contest is organized with the participation of bagpipe players from the Rhodopes, the country and abroad. Every year hundreds of tourists come to the village attracted by the dazzling concert of the bagpipes and the spectacular panoramic views from the high hills. The village situated at the foot of the highest mount of Goliam Perelik is recorded in the early Greek scriptures as the birthplace of Orpheus and a temple to Dionisius. The village amateur ensemble, called “Manol Radichev”, which conquered the hearts of audience at the International Festival of the Highland Song in Llangollen ( Wales ), is the most amusing part of the show. The famous Rhodopean Cheverme (lamb on the spit) is being cooked in the open in the meadows. Free access for tourists.
The Legent of Orpheus
The foundation of the village is lost in the past, but it is know that Gela is establshed by Thracians and it is one of the oldest settlement in Rodophe mountain.
There is two legends conected to the history of that place and village. The firs one is that here is the birth place of the anciant mythical singer Orpheus. Also that he go to search his lover down in the nearlest cave "Dqwolskoto Gyrlo". The second one is that here is the tomb of the famoust Bulgarian exarch Stefan
Near the village can be found archeological remains from the Thracian period as well as remains from a Roman road. There were found a lot of funeral marks of over 20 Thracians. According to the archeologists it was a ritual funeral of an eminent Thracian leader.
There were found and ceramic vessels in the graves. A lot of ornaments, kehlibal objects are proving for cultural connections of the ancient population with distant nations. Also of interest is the church “Holy Trinity”, built on top of a Christian monastery from the Early Bulgarian Kingdom.
